I know that there are a good number of writers out there who do not get as many readers as their texts should objectively get, based on the quality of the texts. The texts are simply not shown to many enough potential readers, and it is rather coincidental if readers at all see the headline, picture and text on their screens.

So, your suggestion, Tom, is creative and it can probably be very effective. Waiting for Medium’s curators to stop by our text is certainly not particularly productive, since the curators are not many enough to read all the material that is published every day on medium.com.

When I saw your headline, I first thought that this is one of the usual texts (one of many) that gives good, obvious and helpful advice to us Medium writers. And indeed it is.

But — and here is my point, it is actually more than that. Your text differs from the ordinary because it goes straight to the essentials, which is telling us to communicate directly and one to one, and to build relationships and friendships online by talking to others about what we are all concerned about: quality writing and writing creatively.

Thanks for the tip, Tom. I believe that used in the right ways, your method can work well and be both effective and productive!

The key is to connect, “make 100 digital friends over the next 3 months and change.”
